Inositol nicotinate is inositol and a niacin formulation, that has been esterified with niacin on all six of inositol's alcohol groups, and contains no free niacin, but can be hydrolyzed to release free niacin in vivo. It is white or white crystalline powder, extremely slightly dissolved in Chloroform, insoluble in water and ethanol, dissolved in dilute acid, and destroys decomposition when heated in an alkali solution.
